Bitterns

It's been a while since I've been out in some real good light and got some birds on the camera sensor.  I realised earlier today that I'd forgotten to put these two images of the Bitterns up.  I was fortunate enough to see this one.  He/she (I think male but can't be 100% sure) flew into the reedbed near the hide and I sat and watched the reeds moving and was amazed when he poked his head out the reeds.  I probably won't see this again for a long time - I suppose that's what makes me keep going: never knowing what you might to see...
